Henderson Global Investors has appointed 3 new analysts to
its credit team. Henri Alexaline, Marc Dallon and James
Briggs join from ABN AMRO Asset Management, Bank of America
Capital Management and BlueBay Asset Management
respectively.
Richard Urwin is joining Merrill Lynch Investment Managers
as head of the economics and asset allocation team in the
new year. Urwin is leaving Gartmore to join Merrill Lynch
and will report to head of investment strategy and research
Ewen Cameron Watt.
Michael Seymour is to join Threadneedle Investments, from
Deutsche Asset Management, as a global equity investment
specialist representing the company's global equity team to
consultants, clients and the media.
Framlington chief investment officer Jeremy Lodwick is
leaving at the end of the year. Lodwick currently manages
the Managed Growth fund which will be taken over by Chris
Armstrong on Lodwick's departure. In the future Framlington
fund managers will report directly to the group's chief
executive officer, Robert Kyprianou.
HSBC UK Smaller Companies manager David Taylor has left the
company with immediate effect with management passing to
Colin Riddles, manager of the HSBC British fund and a number
of institutional mandates.
Former Hendersons manager and Polar Capital founder Brian
Ashford-Russell is to take a sabbatical in order to travel.
As a result Ben Rogoff will take over management of the
Polar Capital Technology Trust
Paul Marriage has joined Cazenove from Insight and will take
over management of the UK Smaller Companies fund from Louise
Nash.
Kieron Gallagher has joined Collins Stewart to run an
Eastern European property investment trust.
Ascan Kokai joins Invesco Real Estate as assets and
acquisitions manager, Hotels and Leisure, as a result of the
increasing growth in the number of managed funds.
Michael Constantis has joined Merrill Lynch Investment
Managers to work as an analyst on the European Equity team.
Constantis, who was previously at Deutsche Asset Management,
will cover telecoms and technology stocks and reports to
head of European equities, James Macmillan.
Robert Mumby will join Jupiter Asset Management in January
as an assistant fund manager to work with Philip Gibbs on
the Financial Opportunities fund.
F&C have strengthened their UK small cap team with the
appointment of Patrick Newens who will be focussing on the
retail and media sectors. Newens previously worked on the
F&C strategy team.
F&C chief investment officer Tony Broccardo is set to leave
the group before the end of the year after incoming chief
executive officer Alain Grisay decided to axe the role.
Broccardo also manages the F&C Managed Distribution fund
which in the short term at least will be taken over by
deputy manager Paul Niven. Whilst the chief investment
officer role has been dissolved Grisay has created the post
of head of investments, with Fernando Ribeiro taking that
position with immediate effect.
Threadneedle Investments have appointed Alex Robarts as a US
analyst focussing on financial services and banking.
Neptune UK Equity fund manager Greg Bennett is set to leave
next year or earlier if the right replacement is found.
Ruth Keattch has been appointed as head of research and
investment director at Troy Asset Management. Keattch joins
Troy from Deutsche Asset Management Limited where she was
responsible for managing UK and European mid and small cap
specialist funds and was manager of the DWS UK Smaller
Companies and DWS European Smaller Companies funds.
Jane Shoemake has been appointed as an investment director
on the Henderson Global Investors UK equity desk. Shoemake
was previously responsible for institutional client
relations at Threadneedle.
F&C bond manager Fatima Luis is expected to return to work
later this month following a period of maternity leave.
Richard Colwell has taken responsibility for the Credit
Suisse Asset Management Growth & Income fund, one of the
three equity income portfolios currently managed by Errol
Francis.
Alix Stewart is joining Scottish Widows Investment
Partnership from Gartmore to run the Corporate Bond Plus
fund. Current Corporate Bond Plus fund manager, Neil Murray,
will continue running several other bond portfolios for the
group. As a result of Stewart's departure the Gartmore
Corporate Bond and Sicav Sterling Bond funds will be
co-managed by Karl Bergqwist and Simon Surtees, with
Gartmore High Yield Corporate Bond coming under Mark Wauton.
Jonathan Platt has handed the management of two of his Royal
London Asset Management bond portfolios to Paul Rayner and
Stephen Peirce. Management of the UK Fixed Interest and
Index Linked portfolios will pass to Rayner and Peirce with
the two being named as co-managers. Rayner will assume the
majority of responsibility for UK Fixed Interest and Peirce
for Index Linked.
Former Standard Life manager Hector Kilpatrick has taken
charge of the SVM UK Alpha fund with Jeremy Hall becoming
c0o-manager. It now seems that the recent appointees Hugh
Cuthbert and Neal Veitch will manage the SVM Continental
European and SVM UK Opportunities funds respectively.
SVM has appointed two new managers following a number of
recent departures. Hugh Cuthbert and Neal Veitch both join
from Kempen Capital Management. Their precise mandates at
SVM are not yet known.
Glen Prentice has joined Morley Fund Management as a fund
manager on the Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific equities
team. Prentice joins from JPMorgan Cazenove and will report
to head of Emerging Markets and Asian Equities, Niall
Paul.
Andrew Brown has been appointed as a junior fund manager by
F&C Asset Management, working in the UK credit team.
Another departure from SVM sees Colin McLean taking charge
of the Continental European fund. McLean takes over from
Andrew Dykes who has resigned from the position after less
than one month.
Andrew Brown has joined F&C Asset Management as a manager on
the UK credit team. Brown was formerly a credit research
analyst at M&G Investment Management, in the chemical and
pharmaceutical areas.
Artemis have appointed Jacob de Tusch-Lec to their SmartGARP
team alongside Philip Wolstencroft and Peter Saacke. He was
previously a Pan European equity strategist at Merrill
Lynch.
Jan Luthman and Steve Bailey have stepped down from managing
the CF Walker Crips Corporate Bond fund, with management
passing to Michael Sunderland, the group’s chief executive
and analyst Jamie Clark. Bailey and Luthman are continuing
to run the CF Walker Crips UK Growth fund.
Threadneedle Investments have announced that Leigh Harrison
has been recruited to a new role as Head of UK Retail
Investments. Reporting to Michael Taylor, Head of UK
Equities, he will take on overall responsibility for the
performance of all Threadneedle retail products which invest
in UK equities and will personally manage the Threadneedle
UK Equity Income Fund. Prior to joining Threadneedle
Harrison was a Director and Senior Portfolio Manager, UK
Equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management.
Daniel McKernan has joined Merrill
Lynch Investment Managers as sterling credit fund manager.
McKernan was previously head of credit at Aegon.
Elizabeth Eaton has assumed sole
responsibility for the management of the Credit Suisse
European Frontiers fund after co-manager Neil Gregson
stepped down. Gregson, who is head of emerging market
equities has looked after the portfolio since 2001 and has
been co-managing with Eaton for some 15 months. He will now
take a more direct role in CSAM's global emerging equity
market products.
Ludo Mackenzie has replaced Rupert
Sheldon as manager of the Henderson UK Property fund.
Mackenzie had worked with Sheldon since March last year.
Gordon Elvey is joining JO Hambro
Capital Management by the end of the year. Elvey currently
manages US and European mandates for the British Steel
Pension fund.
Mira Bhogaita
joins Newton Investment Management Limited as an analyst in
their global research team. Bhogaita will report to Simon
Pryke, leader of global research at Newton and will be
responsible for analysing mid-cap companies, particularly in
the transport, property and leisure industries. Bhogaita
joins from Deutsche Asset Management, where she was a UK
equity analyst specialising in transport.

healthcare sector. Prior to joining Pictet Booty was head of

Stuart Eaton
has joined Insight Investment
as a UK equity fund manager. Eaton will report to head of UK
equities John Bearman
and was previously at Newton Investment

where he was latterly director of investment management,
specialist benchmark funds. Eaton will additionally be
responsible for a range of institutional funds for HBOS
group clients and is taking over management of five of the
group’s pension fund offerings, Clerical Medical Performance
Pension, Clerical Medical Unit Linked Life, CMI UK Equity,
Halifax Special Situations and Bank of Scotland Balanced.
Eaton is taking over all five funds from Jill
Thompson
who believed to be leaving the industry.
Neptune
UK Equity fund manager Robin Geffen
has relinquished management of the fund in order to
concentrate on the group's UK Income portfolio. Management
of the equity fund passes to Greg Bennet
who was previously Geffen's deputy on the Income portfolio
and manager of Neptune US Opportunities. Felix
Wintle
becomes manager of US Opportunities.
SG Asset
Management
have appointed David Benson
as an analyst and UK equity product specialist. Benson joins
from Deutsche Asset Management
where he was director of UK institutional business
development.
Darrell O’Dea
is to step down as lead manager on
Threadneedle’s
European Select Growth fund to be replaced by his deputy
Phil
Cliff.
O’Dea will remain on the fund as Cliff’s deputy and will
continue to manage the Crescendo European fund.
Mark Westwood
has stepped down as manager of three Legg Mason
retail portfolios to work on life funds for Morley.
Westwood was lead manager of the UK Equity, UK Income and UK
Opportunities funds at Legg Mason and there are no immediate
plans to replace him. Westwood will report to Lloyd Whitworth,
the head of core UK equities at Morley.
Martin Currie
have appointed Ross Watson
to
manage their UK Income fund which was previously managed by
David Berry.
Watson joined them from Aberdeen Asset
Management
in March.
Paris Anand
is to take over the management of the DWS
European Growth portfolio, replacing David Haysey
who is leaving the company. Anand has been managing DWS's
European Opportunities fund since last year.
Gareth Quantrill
has resigned his position as manager of 6 of Scottish Widows'
funds in order to join Henderson Global
Investors
as head of credit. Neil Murray
will manage the Corporate Bond fund in addition to the
Scottish Widows Strategic Income, Corporate Bond Plus and
Extra Income portfolios. Murray will run the European
Corporate Bond fund jointly with Steve Logan,
while current head of bond fund management Stuart McMaster
will be responsible for the High Yield portfolio as well as
the offshore bond funds Quantrill ran for parent company
Lloyds TSB.

is leaving JO Hambro Investment Managers
and being replaced by two new managers. Alexandra Pritchard
will manage the European fund while the Waverton Pan
European fund will be managed by Oliver Kelton.

has been appointed as head of fixed income at F&C Asset Management.
De Wit joins from SNS Asset Management
in the Netherlands. He replaces Helene

who is to focus on investment management and assume the role
of head of emerging debt.

A reshuffle at

sees a number of changes with

return to running retail money after some time managing
institutional mandates. Along with

Neil Smeaton has left
Collins Stewart
following the
closure of their Edinburgh operation. The management of Smeaton's US
Equity Focus fund has been passed to US boutique Boston Partners.
Henderson
Global Investors equity income funds are to be managed by its
investment trust team as part of an ongoing restructuring operation.
James Henderson and Job Curtis will manage the Equity
Income and Extra Income funds. John Patullo, manager of the
Preference and Bond fund, retains responsibility for bond investment
in the Extra Income portfolio.
