New Star have promoted Edward Collins to manage the the
equity portion of the Tri-Star unit trust, replacing Stephen
Whittaker. Collins will initially co-manage with Whittaker
and assume full responsibility later in the year, allowing
Whittaker to focus on his other responsibilities as joint
CIO and manager of the UK Growth and Equity Income funds.
David Jane is to hand over the running of M&G's third party
fund of funds to deputy George Tsinonis.
First State's Casper Trenchard is leaving the firm to take
over Matk Niznik's former UK Opportunities fund at Standard
Life Investments.
Former investment director of global equities at Fidelity,
Matthew McKelvey, has left the company to join Insight
Investment as head of equity product management.
Former M&G institutional manager Jonathan Parker has joined
Investec to co-manage the Investec Blue Chip fund with
Christine Baalham.
Chales Favard has joined New Star as European property
acquisitions manager.
Close Investments' Jeremy Gleeson has joined AXA Framlington
to run the Global Technology fund following the departure of
Nick Evans to pursue other opportunities. Gleeson was
previously senior portfolio manager of technology at Close
Investments.
Legal & General has added Georg Grodzki and Patrick Vogel to
its active fixed income team. They join as head of credit
research and head of European credit portfolio management
respectively.
James Weir is to replace Tony Jordan as manager of the
Atlantis Asian Special Situations fund. Jordan will continue
as manager of the Atlantis Asian Recovery and Asian
Opportunities funds.
Cesar Perez will assume control of the Credit Suisse
European fund replacing Jeff Currington. Perez joins from
M&G.
Avinash Vazirani joins Jupiter as an India specialist,
joining from Peninsular Capital Partners as a fund manager
and director along with three members of his team. Avinash
established Peninsula in 2005 and manages the Pensinsula
Alpha hedge fund and Peninsula South Asia Access long only
vehicle. Both fund will also come over to Jupiter.
Jacob Robbins has been appointed as manager of the Investec
Asset Management Global Dynamic fund.
James Chapman will head of the Credit Suisse Smaller
Companies fund from next month. Current manager Stuart
Harris will move to the Singapore based emerging markets
team to specialise in the emerging markets listed real
estate sector. In another move Justin Jordan is set to join
Credit Suisse from Close Investments in July. He will take
over the institutional small-cap mandates currently looked
after by UK equities co-head Crispin Finn.
BlackRock European manager Gavin Corr has left the company
forcing a reshuffle of the European funds. European team
head James MacMillan will run the MLIIF European, European
Growth and European focus funds while Alice Gaskell will
take charge of the ML Continental European and European
Dynamic funds as well as the MLIIF Continental European
Flexible fund.
Allianz Global Investors has appointed Seung Minn as manager
of the Allianz RCM US Equity fund replacing Peter Goetz.
Marcus Hankey has been appointed as manager of the Credit
Suisse UK Growth and Income fund. Hankey joins in July from
Legal and General where he was lead manager on a number of
UK equity portfolios.
Nicholas Evans has resigned as manager of the AXA
Framlington Global Technology fund. American Growth fund
manager Stephen Kelly will assume responsibility for the
mandate until a replacement is found
Newton Investment Management UK Equity fund manager
Christopher Metcalfe has been appointed lead manager on the
Newton Income fund
Legal and General Investment Management has added two new
members to its European Active Equity team, hiring Gavin
Lauder and David Shaw from BlueBay Asset Management and
BlackRock respectively. Lauder becomes senior portfolio
manager for the team while Shaw joins as an analyst working
alongside Lauder and L&G's head of European equities Ian
King.
Richard Crewe joins the F&C asset liability team as a
derivatives manager reporting to head of asset liability,
management and insurance, Richard Watts. Crewee joins from
Bear Sterns.
Resolution UK Property fund manager Sandy Thomson is leaving
the post, handing it back to John Wilson. Thomson leaves on
01 August, responsibility for the mandate has already passed
to Wilson.
Ian Lance is appointed as co-manager of the Schroder
Investment Management Income fund. Lance will run the
portfolio with Nick Purves.
Kathleen Dickson has joined SWIP as a European equity
product specialist. She joins from Baillie Gifford.
Ian Hally joins Morley as head of Asian strategy and
indirect investment. He joins from SWIP where he was
investment director of property securities.
John Botham joins Morley as head of European equities from
Henderson Global Investors.
Arlington Securites has appointed Louise Greenan as a fund
manager and Nicola Francis as a fund analyst to the
Arlington UK Balanced Property fund team.
Martha Reyes joins F&C on the global emerhing equities team.
Reyes joins from the Latin American equity research desk of
Banco Itau.
Katherine Langridge has left Invesco Perpetual to join Aisan
specialist Lloyd George as chief investment officer, also
replacing Jacob Rees-Mogg and Edward Robertson on the Lloyd
George Global Emerging Markets Representative fund.
James Clunie has joined the SWIP UK equity team as
investment director, leaving his position as head of global
equities at Aberdeen.
Whitney George has been handed responsibility for the Legg
Mason US Smaller Companies portfolio.
Baillie Gifford Japanese small-cap manager Alistair Way is
to join Standard Life Investments.
Mark Niznik has resigned from his position as manager of
Standard Life Investments (SLI) UK Opportunities fund. Head
of SLI's smaller companies team Harry Nimmo is managing the
fund until a replacement is found.
Tom Caddick has taken over as lead manager from Richard
Philbin on the F&C Managed Growth and Managed Balanced
fettered funds of funds.
Raphael Kassan has joined Credit Suisse as head of emerging
markets fixed income. Kassin, who will be responsible for
managing the emerging market bond team, was previously at
ABN Amro where he ran the Global Emerging Markets Bond fund.
Pauline Nepgen is leaving Investec to join the global
equities team at Threadneedle where she will report to
executive director of equities Jeremy Podger. Nepgen will be
responsible for technology and telecoms sectors as well as
having a geographic responsibility for Asia.
Stefan Isaacs is assuming control of the M&G European
Corporate Bond fund, replacing the head of the group's
retail fixed interest team Jim Leaviss. Leaviss retains his
other mandates which include the M&G Global Macro Bond and
High Interest funds.
Max Godwin is to become co-manager of the Japan Smaller
Companies fund alongside current head Dean Cashman. Godwin
joins from Pi Investments where he was a co-portfolio
manager and senior analyst.
Roger Webb is to take over management of the Norwich Union
Monthly Income Plus fund following the departure of Mark
Gull. Gull is replaced on the Sustainable Future Corporate
Bond and Preference Share vehicles by Dominic White and
Stephen Lee respectively.
Martin Hall will leave his position as co-head of fixed
income at Fidelity to become head of Axa IM UK in June.
Martin Currie are restructuring the Japanese equities team
following the departure of Japan Mid Cap manager Kevin
Troup. Long standing fund manager Mike Thomas is to delay
his retirement and return to fund management as an interim
measure while a replacement for Troup is found.
Stefan Bain has joined F&C as director of Japanese equities.
He was previously at Royal London Asset Management where he
managed Japanese equities for pension, life and retail
funds.
Aled Smith is to be given the reins of the M&G Asian
portfolio following the departure of Nick Scott to BlackRock
et the end of the year. Global Leaders and American fund
manager Smith will replace Neil MacKay who has been running
the Asian fund on an interim basis. Stuart Rhodes will
become deputy an M&G American.
The departure of John Richards sees David Benson assume
control of three funds at SGAM. He takes on the UK
Concentrated Core portfolio as well as the Balanced Managed
and Stockmarket Managed fettered funds of funds.
Ajay Gambhir is set to join former JPMorgan colleagues Miles
Geldard and Lee Manzi to MPC Investors, where he will launch
a European hedge fund later this year. Gambhir, who joins
MPC Investors in June, was previously head of the European
higher alpha team and lead manager on the onshore UK
Dynamic, Europe and European Dynamic fund in addition to
various offshore and life vehicles. He is replaced at
JPMorgan by Jonathan Ingram.
Marcus Lun has joined First State from Morgan Stanley. Lun
will work as a global resources specialist on the London
based global equities team. He was previously vice president
and a global materials portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley.
Nerea Heras-Mendaza is set to join the emerging markets team
at SG Asset Management in April after she leaves her post as
Eastern Europe equities specialist at Axa. She will
co-manage the SGAM Equities Eastern Europe fund along with
Mark Krombas.
Neptune have appointed Jeremy Smith as head of UK equities.
Mario Ricciardi has been promoted to investment director at
Canada Life International where he has been head of
investment and investment governance for the past six years.
Mark Tinker has been appointed as a portfolio manager on Axa
Framlington's global equity team. Tinker was previously
global strategist at Execution Limited.
Former Schroder's head of Europe, Middle East and Africa,
Liesbeth Rubinstein, has been recruited by Invesco Perpetual
to run Eastern European stocks in its emerging market funds.
Paul Griffiths has been appointed managing director and head
of fixed income at Credit Suisse. Griffiths joins from Axa
Investment Managers where he was global head of of fixed
income and CEO of UK business. He replaces Dennis Schaney
who is due to retire.
HSBC Investments have appointed Christian Deseglise as
global head of emerging markets business.
Martin Currie's Japan head Michael Thomas is to retire in
June, with responsibility for the Japan fund being handed to
co-manager John Millar.
Dalton Strategic Partnership is handing management of its
Pan Asian fund to Sally MacDonald, who joined the group from
Morley.
Morley have appointed two new fund managers. Simon Jaffe
joins from F&C as UK institutional fund manager and former
Lansdowne manager Mark Atherton is to become emerging
markets fund manager.
Terry Ewing will rejoin former employer Resolution Asset
Management as co-head of US equities working alongside
Alison Porter.
Dominic Liversedge has joined Merrill Lynch Portfolio
Managers to help manage segregated portfolios in the UK and
across Europe.
F&C Asset Management have appointed Mike
Woodward as head of investment trusts. He joined F&C in the
summer as deputy head of investment trusts.
Recent recruit Aris Vatis has replaced Jason
Weiner as manager of the Fidelity American fund.
Ian King has been appointed as head of
European equities by L&G and is due to join the company at the
end of the month.
Joseph Meawad has joined Newton Investment
Management as a derivatives analyst. He joins from Newton from
Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
MGM Assurance has appointed David Stewart as
head of investments. Stewart was formerly head of research for
the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
London & Capital has appointed Sofia
Skalistiri as head of global fixed interest. Skalistiri
previously held the same role at Old Mutual Asset Management, as
well as managing a number of portfolios, including the
International Bond fund.
Jupiter has appointed assistant manager of
the UK Growth Exempt fund, Chris Hall, as manager of the
Environmental Income fund. He replaces Peter Hulse who is
leaving Jupiter to pursue other interests.
Bill Muysken, currently global head of
research at Mercer Investment Consulting, is joining Thames
River Capital as a portfolio manager.
New Star has effected a number of changes to
its Japan equity team. Chris Burling takes over the Japan
Recovery fund and Amanda Gold the Japan fund. Both funds had
previously been run by Michelle Saunders, who has also been
managing a Japan hedge fund, which she will now focus on.
Primal Pajwani has joined First State
Investments as a global healthcare analyst on the global
equities team.
Ana da Maia and Julian York have joined HSBC
Investments as research analysts in the global multimanager
team. Da Maia joins from Barclays Wealth while York joins from
Investment Management Selection.
Ian Lance joins the UK equities team at
Schroder, working with Nick Purves and Kevin Murphy managing
specialist portfolios. Lance was previously an institutional
asset manager at New Star.
Gartmore has appointed Simon Cowie as senior
credit research analyst and the fixed income team.
SocGen have recruited Craig Harper from his
position of head of equities at Japanese investment house Daiwa
to run the European Special Situations fund. Harper, who joins
in April will replace current Special Situations manager Stuart
Gilmartin.
